Piece of Eiffel Tower for Sale

Nov 06, 2007
French auction house Drout is selling a segment of the former stairway from the Eiffel tower on November 19.

The piece once climbed by Gustave Eiffel himself linked the second and the third floors but in 1983 it was substituted by elevators.

The staircase was cut into 20 smaller pieces and sold to collectors and museums at auction. One of the pieces goes under the hammer this month.

The height of the segment is 15 feet and it weights 1,540 lbs. They expect the Eiffel Tower piece to fetch a price of some 43,440 dollars (30,000 euros).

The genuine piece features the same workmanship as the Eiffel Tower built in 1889.
A pretty part of the global icon of France, one of the most recognizable structures in the world, could certainly become a very special gift acquired by a wealthy collector to please himself.

Another Wow! It just got me staring! It is buutaifel. I love it. It is so surreal. So Harry Potter-ish. Very effective. Yes, the buildings on the left are a bit dark rather like a void. That's okay. But the Voidness seems to make the photo about 3/4 of its size. It almost makes it look like there is no photo to the left. At least, that is what I am getting on my computer screen. Resolutions are so different. Does not distract. I love it. Great Job. Thanks for sharing.
